Congratulations Tokia

PreCollege Program: Norfolk State University
Upward Bound
What factors are important to you in deciding on a college? The home feeling. I can feel that the students and staff are there for me if I need help and that I will fit in and of course good food. A beautiful campus would be a plus.
Have you decided on a college yet?  No
Have you decided on a major?  Yes, Television Production / Broadcasting
Why?  I took a class in high school that let me explore the world of production and I fell in love with the technology and the environment. I found that I would thrive in this field.
Favorite Subject:  Science
Favorite T.V. show:  Criminal Minds
Favorite Movie:  Too many! If I had to choose, Ratatouille
Favorite Book:  The Real Deal: The Spiritual guide for Black Teen Girls by Billie Montgomery Cook
Favorite Musical Artist/Group: Mali Music and James Fortune
 Favorite Food: Chicken
Favorite Quote:  "You may not choose all the events the happen to you, but you can choose not to be reduced by them." -Maya Angelou
Pets:  No pet :(
What do you enjoy doing during your free time:  I enjoy writing songs, watching movies, listening to music and doing things with family. Most of the time I'm thinking about what to do next.
Is there any thing else you'd like to share:  I believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and put your trust in Him. Thank you for this chance to student of the month!
Note from Norfolk State University:

Tokia possesses a combination of qualities that are certainly hard to find in many of our youth today. One thing that stands out to me mostly is that she is highly self-motivated, which is complimented with a strong source of determination to succeed. Unlike many of her peers, she understands the importance of establishing and maintaining good work ethics to effectively prepare herself for a successful college career. Her level of maturity astonishes me. She is highly respected and loved by her teachers because she respect rules and regulations; she is always punctual and always willing to actively participate in class activities and discussions taking full advantage of every opportunity to learn more. In relationship to her peers, she is highly respected simply because of her kindness and her ability to lead by example. She has made me very proud and I am truly glad to know her.
