A Statement from Christopher's advisor:
When you mention Chris Nicolay to the students, staff and administration at Helena High school, the first response is usually a smile. He’s one of those rare students who have the ability to make a positive impression on everyone he comes into contact with. His intelligence, creativity, affability and work ethic make him a larger than life figure who often seems to be everywhere at once. He’s a student who truly embodies the spirit of Upward Bound and the Federal Trio Programs. He has been with Montana Tech Upward Bound for three years, since October of 2005.
Chris is one of the most intelligent students in Helena High in my opinion. His math skills are especially impressive. As a 9th grader, he was taking 10th grade math and has since taken Honors Pre Calculus and Math Elements. This year he’s taking physics. In addition, he has taken honors classes in science and social studies. In the Upward Bound summer academy, he has distinguished himself as a student who enjoys intellectual stimulation and is a natural leader. Despite taking a challenging curriculum, working after school, being involved in cheerleading and dealing with the everyday challenges of living in a single parent household, Chris has maintained a 2.8 cumulative GPA through his junior year.
Chris has made countless friends and acquaintances during his high school career. He’s known as one of the most enthusiastic members of the cheer squad during Bengal games. He even made the cut on ESPN’s “Line of Scrimmage” which profiled the cross-town football rivalry between the two high schools in Helena. He’s always in a crowd and has a knack for being in the right place at the right time.
Next fall, Chris plans on attending either Montana State University or Rocky Mountain College and majoring in engineering or religious studies. Whatever field he goes into, I have no doubt that he’ll have a positive impact and create a legacy. I and those who have had the pleasure of working with him look forward to watching Chris flourish as his life’s journey continues. |

Hi Chris, I am most impressed by the fact you are a young man, not afraid to share your relationship with God. In that you are already blessed and will be blessed more abundantly.
